In Finnish, in the beginning, wtf

I'm a bit tired. Woke up at 5:30, and then i couldn't get back to sleep. What a bummer, but i've gotten loads of work done and it's not even noon yet.

... maybe i could get husband to go shopping with me, sorta as a reward for working hard.

Anyways, y-day was really hot, so i didn't feel like doing anything. So i spent the day reading a book i'd written ages ago, in Finnish. It's the Witch Hunt, the one with the Rep. Went through it, making sure it was, like, OK, made a cover, kicked it out. So now i've officially done what i thought i'd never do. Published in Finnish, that is.
Look!

You can get it @ smashwords, or from me, or from my webshop as soon as i can manage to put it there. All of them, my books, that is, you can get directly from me, of course, have i mentioned that?

I had something else in mind, something to share, but i've forgotten. As mentioned, i'm a bit tired.

So. Last week (was it last week?) we took a friend to the big city (seinäjoki, that is), and i got to wear clothes. Sorta. Anyways, wore a dress. A simple dress with snap fasteners down the front. It's nice and comfy, but it has quite a high slit in the front. So had to be careful.

Oh, and i cut my hair, too. It's short in the back now. I like it. It hasn't been short in, like, ages. I'm desperately trying to grow out the color, so my hair keeps getting shorter and shorter...

Dress: second hand, Socks: DIY, Shoes: DIY, Hair: DIY
Wore socks, too. It used to be a hose, but i snipped and sewed, and got lacey stay ups. In your face, world.

So that's, like, about it. Now i should get to sewing, but i'm starting to feel i need to go back to sleep :/

hot or not

So i had my first interview on Thursday. Scary. It was for a local newspaper. The reporter came over at eleven in the morning, and asked me questions.
That would have been just fine, but she was a bit shy and quiet, just like me, so we sorta just sat there at the kitchen table, staring at each other, trying to think of something to say :D Could have been worse, though, she was really nice and no-one got hurt.
I had a hard time picking out an outfit. It needed to crystallize both who i am, and what my business is all about, to say i'm comfortable in both my own skin, and the clothes i make, to show what i can do, and to be professional, edgy but not too Out There. So i picked out my favorite skirt, a waist corset i'd made a few weeks ago, and a puff-sleeved blouse. And a crochet ring.

Make-up-wise i went bare again.
So in about two weeks i'll have my face on a paper. That's never happened before. Hope she doesn't pick the only photo she took where i laugh...

Let's have a closer look at the corset, i don't think i've posted anything about it yet.
It's a basic waist corset, made from an old skirt. It was the stretchy (yes, purists cry NOOOO!!!) fabric Vero Moda likes and that shrinks in the wash. I lined the corset with green cotton, and what do you know, it turned out giving and comfortable.

I made the dress form, too. I needed one, and couldn't get my hands on a real one soon enough, so i just sewed one up. Works kinda really well, since it forms to fill every piece of clothing i put on it. I named it Berta.

On other news, it was warm the other day. I uploaded knitted wristlets to my shops, looked outside, and facepalmed.
It's summer! Who wears mitts in the summer? Well, i do, but i'm a freak.
So then i got to thinking. I like corsets, and i'd like to wear them in the summer, too. Only they're suffocating prisons which pretty much boil you. So it took a slap of cotton, sliced it down, and turned it into a one-layer corselet which looks like a corset, and sorta feels like one too, but isn't. I'm going to test-drive it today, and if it works out, i'll be making a few of those for others to enjoy.
I can't be bothered to don mine just yet (need a shower, and i was thinking about cutting my hair a bit) but Berta was more than happy to demonstrate.

I wanted straps since i will want to wear a bra under to top, and brastraps look silly with strapless pieces. The front has two pairs of bones (i used plasticy ones again, since summer, hot, prison, meltdown) and the back just one.

I like a closed front, and back lacing. Sure it's a bit difficult to get into (but with practice the process of "put on backwards, lace up, turn, tighten" gets easier every day) but it's comfortable to wear, and you don't have to worry about something showing in the front.

I embroidered one seam, but it doesn't show here. Getting black separated from black is more than i can handle. On the side, i put a piece of ribbon (left over from making the straps) so i can snag myself into every doorway.
No, not really, i just thought it looked nice, and then i came to remember my clumsiness.

So. That's one of my favorite words, so. Today is the day of the yearly festival here behind God's back. This year we even get to see a known band. Suicide Love Boat. Not that i've heard more than their name, but still.
I'm gonna be in a real rush... so, until next time. Don't get burned <3

Koska vuodatus on nurin, pääsee korsetti tänne.

Tänään on tosiaan vuotuinen Tapahtuma. Ni kiire tulee vaikka miten juoksis, voe voe. Nähhään taas, älkää palako auringossa <3

working hard or...

Work takes time away from hobbies, but we still ventured out on Saturday. It was the yearly flea-market in Tuuri. Last year i got a wicked bad sunburn (i still have tan lines from that happy episode) when trying to unload some of my clothes, so this year we just went shopping. Smart choice, since it rained most of the day.
The place was packed, i mean literally crowded. There were cars everywhere, and a huge line to everywhere. I found a bit of fabric, or course, and i was thinking about turning it into a skirt. A short ruffled skirt, bloodred. Tasty <3
Had to go to the real shop as well, since my printer needed ink, and i really needed to get my business cards done. Found it, and since the line was hyperlong, i also picked up a nail varnish. Just as a little pick-me-up. It's a basic silver-glitter, i've been out of one for... five years? Slow, yes?

Shopping compressed to one shot.

Got the business cards done, too. Two kinds of them. Very professional.

On Sunday we had a bit of a photo-shoot. I needed sophisticated pics for knitting patterns (which will soon be published @ ravelry and my shop) so i made myself pretty, and sat still for three long minutes. What a torture. The pics turned out quite nice, and husband took one over-saturated artsy one, too.

After the shawl was immortalized, i got to play around a bit with crochet jewelry. It was a lot more fun than sitting still. Sophistication is obviously not my thing...

So. Should be working, but i don't wanna. It's nice and warm outside, and i'd like to go on a motorcycle-ride.
Maybe tomorrow, then. Going to the grocery store is a good enough excuse, right?
